FORT NELSON, B.C. – A planned outage is taking place in Fort Nelson next week while Northwestel conducts network upgrades.
The outage will occur between 11:30 p.m. on April 2nd to 6 a.m. on April 3rd. It will affect landline phone service, digital subscriber line (DSL), 911 and long-distance calling and Bell Mobility phone service.
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality says a meeting with the telecommunications service provider was requested to avoid phone services being shut down at the same time. However, the town had no input on the planned outage and wasn’t given any further information, according to the NRRM.
The town is working with emergency services to develop a safety plan and says it will keep residents updated.
Anyone with questions related to the outage is advised to contact Northwestel.
