FORT ST. JOHN B.C. – The Northern Vision Care Youth Athlete of the Month contest is here. Nominations have been collected, and the third winner has been chosen. If your athlete didn’t win this month, keep nominating! The votes carry over, so keep submitting your picks for the Northern Vision Care Youth Athlete of the Month!
The Youth Athlete of the Month for March 2022 is Hurlee Thomas, a basketball player and a student at Dr. Kearney Middle School.
Thomas is a junior on the school’s basketball team and also plays for the FSJ Flight and the FSJ Hoops youth basketball teams.
The 12-year-old says he’s been playing ball for the last five years and his love of the game came after watching a Toronto Raptors game on TV.
Hurlee says he continues to work and perfect his basketball skills in his free time when he’s not attending school or working on his homework.
Hurlee says he has a friend that he constantly hangs out with, and all they do is work on their basketball skills together.
“I usually do it if I need to work on my dribbling moves or my shot or my layup, it just all depends on what I feel like I need to be doing,” said Hurlee.
His inspiration comes from watching NBA games, highlights and basketball YouTubers.
Hurlee says he watches Youtube videos and then goes out on the court and practices what he saw.
Congratulations to Hurlee Thomas for being named the Northern Vision Care Youth Athlete of the Month for March.
