FORT ST. JOHN B.C. – Jake Gardner started off his 2022 season earlier this month, representing Team Canada at the PBR Global Cup in Arlington, Texas.

Gardner replaced injured rider Dakota Buttar and was bucked off both bulls he rode during the event.

Team Canada finished fifth out of six teams at the PBR Global Cup.

This event was Gardner’s first competition since his bicep injury that put an early end to his 2021 season.

“It was kind of a mental battle to get back in the groove and get back to competition. I just need to knock the rust off and find my groove again, ” said Gardner.

He didn’t let the results from Arlington get him down. The following weekend he was in Houston to take part in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo, finishing third.

“I’ll be going to rodeos every day, if not every other day. I’m just trying to win money and get up in the standings.”

Gardner’s goal is to make it to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.
