FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St John Family Practice Associates Clinic says they have been unable to find a replacement for a departing physician, leaving his patients without a family doctor.

The clinic published a letter on social media from Dr. Derek Rollo to his patients on Tuesday, informing them he will be leaving the practice on July 1st.

His patients will no longer have a physician at the clinic as of June 30th due to the clinic being at maximum capacity and the difficulty finding a replacement.

Dr. Rollo is urging his patients to register online with HealthLink BC to be contacted when a family doctor becomes available in the community.

The clinic will keep patients’ medical records for 12 months, and then they will need to be transferred to a records storage facility, according to Dr. Rollo.

He suggests his patients sign up for HealthELife to have access to their health information, including lab results, imaging results, and medical appointments.

Dr. Rollo didn’t mention where he is headed next but says he is leaving Fort St. John.

“It has been a privilege to work with you all as your family physician over the past few years, and I will continue to provide dedicated, personalized care to you until my departure,” read his letter.
