FORT ST. JOHN B.C. – Ina Forrest and Team Canada have advanced to the wheelchair curling semifinals.
Team Canada strategically made a massive comeback against Norway, being down 6-4 and entering the eighth and final end of the match.
It was down to Team Canada’s last rock, and Jon Thurston made a spectacular throw to give his squad a thrilling victory and came back to dash the hopes of the Norwegian team.
Thurston scored the three points needed to advance with a mighty curl, winning 7-6 over Team Norway.
Canada officially secured a spot in the wheelchair curling semifinals, finishing the round-robin play with a 7-3 record.
Team Canada has now qualified for a fifth consecutive semifinals appearance at the Paralympics.
Team Canada squares off against China, the host country, on Friday, March 11th. The matchwinner will take on either Sweden or Slovakia in the gold medal game on Saturday, March 12th.
