FORT ST. JOHN B.C. – The Fort St. John Salvation Army received a hefty cheque from Co-op to help support the non-profit’s efforts in the community.
On Tuesday, president Bruce Chisholm and director Bruce Baxter of the Fort St. John Co-op presented the executive director of Salvation Army, Jared Braun, with a $6,000 cheque for its community funds.
The money donated will be spread across their community and family service centre, where they host their food bank.
The money will help cover the cost of food items that the Salvation Army might not usually receive by donation and financial support to purchase certain items people need.
“We appreciate their support, and to see their contribution, not only to us but other organizations in town, shows that they want to be a part of the community. And it just gives us the confidence to continue to carry on the social work that we’re doing to make our community better,” said Braun.
