DAWSON CREEK B.C. –  Dawson Creek RCMP went above and beyond the call of duty to help an elderly resident over the weekend.

On March 4th, the Dawson Creek RCMP received a call from a 86 year old female living on her own, requesting assistance getting her eye-drops container open because she could not get the lid off on her own.

Cst. Ian Whitaker says the detachment was more than happy to assist as they had a member available.

“It’s nice when we can do these things. We did still have to inform her that it’s not necessarily a 9-1-1 call. It was nice to be able to have the member be able to attend, ” said Whitaker.

The detachment tends to receive many non-emergency phone calls that they cannot respond to throughout the day. However, Whitaker says it’s a rewarding experience when they can help out individuals on rare occasions such as this one.
