FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A non-profit known as Outsiders and Others have put out a call for self-taught artists in Northern B.C. to submit their art to be featured in an exhibit at their gallery locations in Vancouver.

Artists north of Bella Coola have until March 1st to submit their works for an exhibit being planned for May 2022.

The organzation says it would like to introduce residents of Vancouver to works done by northern artists, which don’t get seen often in that area.

To apply, artists must email outsidersandothers@gmail.com with the subject line “Up North” and include the following:

Self-taught artists will be given first consideration for the exhibition.

The gallery retains a 25 per cent commission on the sale of all artworks. Artists are paid an exhibition honorarium, the amount of which is unknown at this time.

Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping their artwork to and from the gallery.

Outsiders and Others is a non-profit arts society with a focus on providing a platform to non-traditional artists including outsider, folk, self-taught, visionary, intuitive, and artists with disabilities.

The non-profit has two gallery locations in Vancouver with the main gallery located at 716 East Hastings Street, open to the public three days a week and by appointment. A window gallery is located at 938 Howe Street
