A motion by interim leader of the Conservative Party Candice Bergen to lift all COVID-19 mandates and restrictions was defeated in the House of Commons on Monday.

Local MP Bob Zimmer announced his support for the motion on social media prior to the vote.

“We need to send the Prime Minister a strong message that the mandates need to end,” said Zimmer.

The plan called on the House to table a plan removing all COVID-19 rules by February 28th.

“Sadly Libs, NDP and Greens voted against, and it was defeated 185-151,” read a Twitter post by Zimmer.

He notes Liberal MP Joel Lightbound voted in favour of the motion.
