FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Despite objections that some residents had to Energeticcity’s article, owner of Veronica’s Closet, Kim Kelly, says she wasn’t terribly surprised to discover Pinkcherry.ca named Fort St. John the eighth sexiest town in Canada.
“I think that people are less conservative at home than they are in everyday life. Their home lives are just different than what they portray to people. So people are a lot more open-minded in regards to intimacy than they let on,” Kelly said.
“I definitely think Fort St. John is a sexy city,” Kelly said.
Kelly says business has been steady and climbing throughout the pandemic. However, her business didn’t remain completely unscathed.
The indoor tanning portion of Kelly’s business had to be shut down for several months and people not being able to get married due to public health restrictions put a dent in lingerie sales.
“I really felt it there, not having wedding season for quite some time, and because most businesses shut their doors, a lot of people just assumed that I was closed, even though I was still open,” Kelly said.
Kelly added that she saw an increase in sales in the adult toy department of her store at the beginning of the pandemic and hypothesized why adult toys are so popular in the Energetic City.
“We have long winters, so people are indoors a lot more than warmer places. I think the kind of work that people do here keeps them apart for longer periods of time, so they either want things for personal needs, or they want things to share with a partner because they haven’t seen them for a long stretch,” Kelly said.
“Plus, when people work in the oil patch, they make a lot of money and they’re not afraid to spend it when they want something,” Kelly added.
Fort St. John was named the eighth “sexiest” town in Canada based on purchases and consumer behaviour patterns through Pinkcherry.ca in 2021.
The ranking brings a new meaning to the Energetic City, with Fort St. John ranking 7th for male masturbator purchases and 6th for bondage items.
The top products purchased were female vibrators of all shapes and sizes. The city ranks 10th for vibrator purchases in Canada.
