UPDATE: Robert Ogilvie Elementary and North Peace Senior Secondary are now fully open. SD60 says ALL CLEAR from RCMP has been given.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Robert Ogilvie Elementry School and North Peace Senior Secondary have been put on hold and secure orders Friday morning as RCMP work on an incident in the area unrelated to the schools.
School District 60 Superintendant Stephen Petrucci says this is a normal procedure when RCMP are working near schools.
“What we do is we go into what’s called a hold and secure, which means they continue to operate as normal on the inside of the school and monitor the doors. Lock the doors, control who comes in and out while the RCMP are dealing with this situation,” Petrucci said.
RCMP were unavailable for initial comment.
