Changes to the BC Liberal Caucus were announced Monday following Kevin Falcon being elected the party’s new leader on Saturday.
Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond will remain the leader of the official opposition until Falcon wins a seat in the B.C. Legislature.
Peace River North MLA Dan Davies will continue to serve as the critic for social development and poverty reduction.
Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier, who backed Falcon’s leadership bid, was given a new role as the official opposition critic for housing. Bernier was formerly the finance critic.
Andrew Wilkinson has decided to resign his seat in Vancouver-Quilchena to give Falcon a chance to run in a byelection.
The NDP government has six months to call a byelection.
Bond announced the following new appointments in caucus today:
Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes has been elected to the position of caucus chair, and Fraser Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart has been put forward as the nominee for the assistant deputy speaker.
