FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John RCMP arrested a man after Moose FM/Energeticcity received a bomb threat on Saturday around 6:33 p.m.
The threat consisted of a voicemail left by a man threatening to pipe bomb the radio station for not covering a specific local event.
“You better start displaying and sharing truck convoy news or I’m going to pipe bomb your f*****g building,” said the man in the voicemail.
Police responded immediately and secured the radio station, and utilized the Peace Liard RCMP Police Dog Services Unit to clear the building for any explosives.
Through investigation, it was determined that the threat had been made by a man who resides in Fort St John. The man was located, arrested for uttering threats and was held for court.
“Our community members, including local businesses, deserve to feel safe,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. “The Fort St John RCMP takes a threat like this very seriously and we are glad to say that no pipe bomb was found either at the radio station or at the man’s residence.”
Philip Testawitch attended court on January 31st and is facing charges of uttering threats and intimidation by threatening violence. Testawitch remains in custody until his trial and was transferred to Prince George following another court appearance Tuesday.
