FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A retired oil and gas worker from Fort St. John recently donated a new piece of equipment for Northern Lights College’s simulated wellsite training facility

Art Jarvis, who worked in the industry for many years and is an advocate for the industry, donated a portable gas separator to the college last month.

“Either I could turn it back to the patch and make some money with it, or I could do something worthwhile like this and give it to somebody that’s going to teach a lot of people in the future,” Jarvis said in a release.

Elenore Vokes, instructor for the college’s oil and gas field operator program, says the donation creates another important training opportunity for students. She says it will benefit not only students but the industry as well.

“The more experience they get on more equipment, the more familiar they become with it, and the benefit is huge,” said Vokes.
