FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Huskies went on a scoring spree Sunday, flattening the Fairview Flyers 8-1.
Jared Winkel opened the scoring early in the first, being the period’s only goal.
Winkel also opened the scoring in the second period with his second of the game, and his teammates followed that up with another four unanswered before the Flyers scored their lone goal of the game. The Huskies added another two in the third period before it was all said and done.
Huskies’ goalie Tyler MacArthur stopped 27 of 28 shots he faced for his league-leading 19th win.
The Huskies were supposed to play the North Peace Navigators in Peace River on Saturday night, but the game was postponed to a broken-down zamboni. The game has been rescheduled for this Sunday.
The Huskies will be playing another two games next weekend, as they head to Sexsmith to play the Vipers Friday night, and head home to face the Dawson Creek Kodiaks on Saturday night.
The squad improved their record to 33-1-1 on the season.
