TAYLOR, B.C. – The District of Taylor announced Thursday that councillor Dave Lueneberg is resigning, effective February 1st.
Lueneberg has served on council since being elected in 2014 and served as vice-chair of the protection committee and emergency committee member.
The councillor also represented the district as the Northern BC Tourism Association Liaison and Alaska Highway community representative.
Lueneberg plans to remain active in the community through his involvement with the Gold Panning Parade and Community Bingo.
“It has been a pleasure working with Dave during his time on council, and his contribution towards making Taylor a great place to live, work, and play is sincerely appreciated. On behalf of council and all residents of the District of Taylor, I would like to thank Dave for his service to the community and wish him the best as he embarks on a new chapter,” said Mayor Rob Fraser in a statement.
Mayor and council have opted not to proceed with a by-election for the vacant Councillor position during a local government election year.
General voting day for the next local government election is scheduled for October 15th.
