FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. -Residents of Fort St. John took part in the Betty White challenge to honour the late legendary actress on what would have been her 100th birthday by donating to the North Peace SPCA.

After White’s passing on December 31st, the internet issued a challenge to pay homage to White and her years of advocating for animals by donating what they could to animal shelters in their area on January 17th.

While the North Peace SPCA can’t tell how much money was donated online to their branch specifically, manager Candace Buchamer says they had a number of residents reach out to make donations via e-transfer, credit card and cash, which tallied up to $493.55.

Buchamer added that the BC SPCA received over $400,000 in donations in honour of Betty White provincially.
