PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Northern BC Crime Stoppers received a near record number of tips in 2021, resulting in a number of arrests and cleared cases.
Last year, the program received 945 tips, ending with nine arrests and four cases cleared. In addition to the tips and arrests, over $13,600 worth of drugs were seized, $1,500 in property was obtained and $2,930 in cash was recovered.
“The Board of Directors of Northern BC Crime Stoppers would like to thank the citizens of Northern BC for continuing to provide vital information that has led to a great year for tips and arrests in 2021,” reads a release from Northern BC Crime Stoppers.
“We would also like to thank the hard working and dedicated members of the RCMP in Northern British Columbia for continuing to support this crime fighting program.”
Entering its 37th year, the program has expanded further west to Kitimat and Terrace. Now, the program served more than 30 communities from the Yukon border to Williams Lake, west to Terrace and east to Alberta.
In its 37 year existence, the program has received 20,123 tips resulting in 1,604 arrests. 620 awards were approved for a total of $179,130. Nearly $39.4 million in value of seized drugs and property have been recovered.
