FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – School buses will not run on Thursday and Friday in School District 60 due to extreme cold weather.
The District sent out a release on Wednesday afternoon to alert parents of the change.
“Schools remain open for children of healthcare workers and vulnerable students,” reads the release.
This week, schools were open for teachers and staff only, and students would resume classes on January 10th.
Essential services workers and healthcare providers were given the opportunity to send their kids to school this week.
The one week buffer is to allow staff time to create contingency plans, safety plans and the continuity of learning.
“The objective of this phased-in plan is to ensure we are able to keep schools open as much as possible from January 10th on,” said Superintendent Stephen Petrucci on December 31st.
