FORT ST JOHN, B.C. – North Peace Regional Airport has seen several delays over the past month due to a variety of factors including lack of staff, extreme temperatures, and snowfall.
The airport’s managing director, Mike Karesseboom, says the airport has also experienced cancellations in the past few days due to aircraft de-icing capabilities.
“The de-icing fluid is only good to a certain temperature and then it becomes ineffective and we are below those temperatures at the moment and with the snow,” Karesseboom explained.
He says that as long as temperatures remain steady and the area doesn’t see more precipitation, the airport shouldn’t experience further cancellations.
