FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Hospital Birthing Centre welcomed the city’s first baby of 2022 on Sunday.

Milania was born at 2:46 a.m. on January 2nd, weighing 7 lbs 5 oz. She is welcomed by parents Marianna and Lucas of Fort St. John, as well as an older sibling.

The first baby born in 2022 in the Northern Health Region came out of Prince George.

The baby was born at 12:09 a.m. at University Hospital of Northern BC, weighing 6 lbs 7oz. Congratulations to parents Brittany and Calvin of Hixon!

The first birth in the Peace region happened at the Dawson Creek Hospital. Baby Sofia Lynn Ruby was born at 7:01 a.m. on January 1st, 2022, at Dawson Creek & District Hospital, weighing 8 lbs 13 oz.

Congratulations to mom Kassidy Keir and dad Dylan Ruby! Sofia Lynn is also welcomed by big sister Jessica.

The honour of the first baby to be born in British Columbia goes to a boy born at Victoria General Hospital at 12:04 a.m. Congratulations to proud parents Shawna White and Ishmael Grimwood.
