FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John RCMP confirms an investigation is underway into the theft of Christmas presents.

The resident who filed the report, Lisa Ferguson, filed a report to police on December 26th and says the gifts were stored in a locked room at the hotel she resides at.

According to Ferguson, the individual was able to gain access to the room and steal what Ferguson estimates to be approximately $515 worth of gifts for her children.

Ferguson said her church came to her aid and offered to cover her rent so that she could replace the gifts for her kids.

“[The church said] go buy your girls Christmas presents with what’s left of your rent money, and the church will cover your rent for this month and January,” Ferguson said.

The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
