VICTORIA, B.C. – The Province has introduced new COVID-19 measures in the hopes of a safer holiday season.
The new measures will take effect Monday, December 20th, and they will last until January 31, 2022. Some measures have already been in place in the Northern Health region for a number of weeks.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new measures include:
The provincial health officer is reinforcing the need to have COVID-19 safety plans for stores for holidays and Boxing Day.
“These measures will help us to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect the ones we care about,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. “Slowing the spread and keeping each other safe is a cause in which we are all connected. It’s that togetherness that will get all of us through the next days and weeks.”
According to a release, Omicron appears more transmissible than other COVID-19 variants, but there’s limited data on the severity of illness.
