VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health region added 22 cases on Friday, moving the active case count to 243.

There are 21 people in hospital, 6 of whom are in critical care.

There were no COVID-19 deaths on Friday, keeping the regional total at 265.

Out of 17,977 cases since last March, 17,457 have since recovered.

Another 488 vaccine doses were given since Thursday, raising the total dose count to 410,644. Of those, 186,069 are second doses and 22,133 are other doses.

British Columbia recorded 437 cases on Friday, raising the active case count to 2,994.

There are 211 people in hospital, 72 of whom are in critical care.

Three COVID-19 deaths were recorded Friday, raising the provincial total to 2,381.

Out of 222,013 cases since last spring, 216,542 have since recovered.

In B.C., 29,833 vaccine doses were given Friday, raising the total dose count to 8,919,000. Of those, 4,081,772 are second doses and 563,632 are other doses.

According to the BC CDC, case rates in Northern Health have dropped dramatically since late October.

As of December 6th, the case rate in unvaccinated Northern Health residents sits at 29.3 cases per 100,000 population. At its peak on October 20th, the case rate was 100.7 per 100,000 population.

For double-vaccinated residents, the peak on October 20th was at 23.3 per 100,000, and by December 6th, it has fallen to 7.4 cases per 100,000.
