VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health region added 57 cases on Friday, but the active case count remains at 351.
There are 38 people in hospital, eight of whom are in critical care.
No COVID-19 deaths were reported on Friday, keeping the regional total at 257.
Out of 17,740 cases since last March, 17,119 have since recovered.
Another 18,474 vaccine doses were given since Thursday, raising the total dose count to 407,184. Of those, 186,280 are second doses and 18,474 are other doses.
British Columbia added 405 new cases on Friday, raising the active case count to 3,071.
There are 276 people in hospital, 95 of whom are in critical care.
There were six COVID-19 deaths in British Columbia Friday, raising the total to 2,351.
Out of 219,584 cases since last March, 214,047 have recovered.
Across B.C., 25,233 vaccine doses were given, raising the total dose count to 8,761,618. Of those, 4,064,971 are second doses and 469,485 are other doses.
As of Friday, 85.1 per cent of eligible British Columbians five and older have received at least one dose, and 81.8 per cent are fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved vaccine.
Northern Health announced an end to the outbreak at Peace Villa – Meadow House on Friday.
Since it was declared on November 4th, the outbreak resulted in three staff members and three residents testing positive for COVID-19.
One resident who tested positive for COVID-19 passed away.
“Northern Health extends condolences to the family, friends and caregivers of the resident who passed away. Northern Health also wishes to thank the hardworking nurses, care aides, staff, and physicians who have continued to provide excellent care in these challenging circumstances,” reads the release from Northern Health.
The health authority says it will continue to monitor for any cases of COVID-19 among staff and patients at all Northern Health facilities.
