VANCOUVER, B.C. – ICBC and police across the province are teaming up for the annual December CounterAttack campaign.
The campaign urges drivers to be responsible this holiday season and plan ahead for a safe ride home from any events.
According to a release from ICBC, on average, 14 people are killed, and 190 are injured in impaired driving-related crashes in Northern B.C. every year.
CounterAttack starts this weekend, and police will be out looking for any impaired drivers on roads across the province.
With public health orders not as strict as last year, more people may be attending holiday gatherings. ICBC says one message remains the same “if you drink, don’t drive”.
Impaired driving is still one of the top three contributing factors in fatal car crashes across the province, with more than half taking place on the weekends.
