DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Dawson Creek residents can now vote for who they think is deserving of the 2021 Community Awards.

The categories for this year’s awards are Entrepreneur of the Year, Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and Inclusive Workplace of the Year.

Voting is open until 4:30 p.m. on November 22nd.

The Youth of the Year award already has a recipient due to nine-year-old Addison Webb being the only person to be nominated for the category.

Addison will be nine this month and has won top fundraiser for Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre in 2017 and 2019.

She raised over $3,000 for the facility after spending countless hours selling chocolates.

In 2019 she cut her hair and donated it to wigs for cancer patients, and the lemonade stand she built this summer raised $1550 for Nawican Bergeron Youth and Culture Center in Memory of lives lost and in Honor of Indian Residential School survivors.

“She volunteers at Nawican whenever she gets a chance. She is a busy little girl who loves to help those in need, with a big smile on her face!” said the awards voting form.

City council decided to create the awards in 2016 to give the community an opportunity to recognize the dedicated residents and businesses.
