PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MB – Team BC needed an extra minute and three seconds to defeat Team Saskatchewan on Wednesday, but with help from Hailey Armstrong and Brooke Disher, Jade Iginla scored in overtime to win 4-3.

Team Saskatchewan opened the scoring before Team BC tallied two in the first period. Disher got an assist on the first goal.

Neither team could solve the opposing goaltender in the second frame, but Team Saskatchewan tied the game early in the third period.

Hailey Armstrong replied for Team BC to retake the lead a minute later, one of her two points in the game.

Team Saskatchewan pushed hard to the end, eventually finding another tying goal with less than three minutes to go.

Early in the overtime period, Disher and Armstrong teamed up to find Jade Iginla in space to claim victory for Team BC.

Final shots were 37-21 in favour of Team BC, who will face Team Alberta in the early game Thursday to determine who is the top-seeded team in the round-robin.

On Tuesday, Team BC bested host Team Manitoba 4-1. Disher had two points in the game, one goal and one assist. She’s tied for third place with four points in the tournament.
