FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The most recent community immunization coverage chart was released on Wednesday by Northern Health, and Fort St. John’s first dose rate climbed from 76 to 77 per cent.

The two-dose coverage rate in Fort St. John climbed two per cent from 64 to 66 per cent, making the Energetic City the community in the Northeast with the highest rates of immunization.

The lowest rates continue to occur in the rural regions of Peace River North and Peace River South, where first dose rates are in the mid 50s and second dose rates are at or below 50 per cent.

Taking the Northern BC population into account, 81 per cent of the eligible population have at least one dose, while 73 per cent are fully vaccinated.

As of Tuesday, the vaccination rate of eligible residents over 12 across the entire province is 90.4 per cent for the first dose and 85.4 per cent for both doses.
