FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A Fort St. John man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Amanda Black will return to court in two weeks to set dates for a preliminary inquiry.
Shane Sutherland made a brief appearance in Fort St. John provincial court Monday. Lawyers are tied up with other matters, court heard, and will be ready to address the matter on Nov. 15.
During a preliminary inquiry, the court will decide if there is enough evidence to send the accused to trial.
Sutherland was arrested in February after RCMP were called to the Village St. John townhome complex on 102 Avenue where Black was found deceased.
Sutherland is charged with second-degree murder, and the charge has yet to be proven in court. He remains in custody.
