FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John post office was shut down on Thursday after an employee was presumptive for COVID-19.

According to Phil Legault, with Canada Post, employees follow physical distancing measures and wear personal protective equipment.

“We have followed the guidance of public health in informing employees, supporting contact tracing, and conducting a sanitization of the facility,” says Legault in an email to energeticcity.ca.

The Post Office was closed Thursday afternoon out of caution and for the sanitization. The office resumed regular operating hours on Friday.

Legault says that operating during the pandemic can cause concerns for employees, which is why Canada Post has committed to closely following advice from public health officials at both the national and local levels to keep employees and those they serve safe.

Anyone with questions regarding their postal services can contact Canada Post’s Customer Service team at 1-866-607-6301.

This is the third time this year Energeticcity has reported a closure at the office for sanitization.
