FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The NPSS Grizzlies had a busy weekend with teams travelling to Dawson Creek, Prince George and Quesnel for competitions.

The senior boys volleyball team was in Prince George for a tournament, winning their first two games on Friday before losing the third in a three-set nail-biter.

Losing to DP Todd on Saturday, the Grizzlies bounced back and won their next two games to finish 5th. The weekend all-star was Lucas Willms.

The junior and senior girls volleyball teams were in Dawson Creek for a “play day.” The juniors beat Chetwynd in three matches and lost against the Dawson Creek senior team, but they beat the juniors in three sets.

The Grizzlies senior team lost a close one to the Dawson Creek senior team in two sets, with the second set going into extra points.

Athletic Director Jaclyn McNicol says the teams got a lot of value out of the event, and Gracie English was named as the athlete of the weekend.

Quesnel hosted the cross country Zone Championships, and the Grizzlies had an impressive showing. The senior girls won the cross country Zone Championship, Raelle Amboe finished 1st in the junior category, and Kane Schreiner finished 5th, earning a spot at provincials in Vancouver on November 6th.

The junior girls volleyball team will head to Prince George this weekend to compete on October 29th and 30th.
