FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – School District 60 is asking parents to send their children with appropriately-sized masks as the mandate for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students begins Monday.

The district sent out a letter Friday following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s update to the mask mandate in schools.

As it may be challenging to get masks in a short amount of time, the district says it is trying to source its own supply for students to use.

“All children will be welcomed regardless of whether or not they are wearing a mask,” reads SD 60’s parent letter sent out Friday.

“As with other grades, it is also possible to request an exemption.”

The district thanks parents for their understanding as it continues to function through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Schools remain one of the safest environments during this pandemic, and it is critical that education continues uninterrupted for students and families.”
