ROSE PRAIRIE, B.C. – Strong winds have likely caused power outages near Rose Prairie, Charlie Lake, North Pine, Buick and Cecil Lake.

At noon on Thursday, Environment Canada recorded southwesterly wind speeds of 54 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching 91 kilometres per hour at the Fort St. John Airport weather station.

Power is out on 86th Street between 10500 and 10600 blocks, affecting around five customers since 1:10 p.m. The cause of the outage is under investigation by the crew that has been assigned. Last update: 1:14 p.m.

A crew has been assigned to investigate the cause of an outage in Taylor, north of Cherry Avenue, east of 97th Avenue, west of 251 Road, and south of Spruce Street. Power has been off since 1:13 p.m., affecting around 215 customers. Last update: 2:22 p.m.

Power has been off since 1:15 p.m., affecting around five customers in the 7200 block of 265 Road. A crew has been sent to investigate the cause of the outage. Last update: 1:33 p.m.

Power went off at around 12:23 p.m. east of 273 Road, southwest of the Alaska Highway and north of Road 242. Approximately seven customers are affected, according to BC Hydro. A crew has been assigned to the location, and the outage has been determined to be caused by a tree down across power lines. Last update: 1:41 p.m.

A crew has been assigned to find the cause of an outage that is affecting around 5 customers on the 13300 block of Hudson’s Hope Road. The outage occurred around 1:16 p.m. BC Hydro says the estimated arrival of the crew is 2:50 p.m. Last update: 3:03 p.m.

Power went off at 11:41 a.m. at the 4000 block of Cecil Lake Road from a tree that fell down on wires. BC Hydro says seven customers are affected, and crews have been assigned to the incident. Last update: 4:25 p.m.

Also on Cecil Lake Road, a downed wire caused power to go out east of Rose Prairie Road and south of Doig Road, affecting 543 customers. The power has been off since 12:30 p.m. Last update: As of 5:00 p.m., this incident is no longer on the BC Hydro outages page.

Approximately 132 customers in the region west of Clayhurst Road just north of the Peace River at the B.C.-Alberta border are without power since 3:30 p.m. No crew has been assigned yet, but the estimated arrival time is 4:40 p.m. Last update: 4:40 p.m.

South of Road 256, east of Rose Prairie Road, north of Clark Avenue, BC Hydro says about 25 customers have been without power since 12:49 p.m. No crew has been assigned yet, and the cause of the outage is still under investigation. Last update: 1:16 p.m.

A crew has been assigned to the location north of 260 Road and west of Road 259 just north of Rose Prairie, where about 13 customers are affected.

In Buick, power has been off since 1:06 p.m., affecting 242 customers west of Prespatou Road. A crew has been assigned to determine the cause of the outage. Last update: As of 5:00 p.m., this incident is no longer on the BC Hydro outages page.

A BC Hydro crew is at the location of an outage affecting the area between Upper Halfway, Kobes and Wonowon. The outage was caused by a downed tree across power lines. Power went out at around 1:45 p.m. and BC Hydro expects power to be restored by 6:30 p.m. Last update: 4:37 p.m.

Crew members are on-site in Hudson’s Hope where a downed tree across power lines has affected 502 customers since 1:13 p.m. Last update: 4:20 p.m.

A crew has been dispatched to investigate an outage on the 9000 block of Wallace Avenue, where about 5 customers have been without power since 1:52 p.m. A crew was expected to arrive by 3:20. Last update: 3:43 pm.

Power has been out on the 4400 block of Beryl Prairie Road since 3:31 p.m., and a crew has been assigned to determine the cause. Approximately 5 customers are affected. Last update: 3:47 p.m.

A crew has been assigned to investigate an outage along Hwy 97 between Lemoray and Hasler Flat, affecting 39 customers. Power went out at 2:37 p.m. Last update: 3:50 p.m.
