FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Northern Health released COVID-19 vaccination coverage rates for specific communities in the region on Wednesday, and the rural regions of Peace River North and South have the lowest rates in the north.

According to the report, Hudson’s Hope has the highest rate of 2-dose vaccination in the Northeast with 57 per cent coverage.

Of the 22,472 residents in Fort St. John, 68 per cent have one dose and 56 per cent have both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Peace River North Rural has 8,370 residents, and as of September 21st, just 46 per cent have received one dose, 38 per cent have received both doses.

Peace River South has 5,552 residents; 52 per cent have one dose and 43 per cent have both doses.

The entire Northern BC region’s vaccination rate for residents 12 and older sits at 74 per cent for one dose and 64 per cent for both doses.

The Northwest region has two communities with over 80 per cent of its residents having received both doses: Haida Gwaii South and Kitimat.
