Support Fort St John News

Dear Readers,

We have received a number of questions about a report by Rebel News/CanadaLand that lists Energeticcity.ca.

Yes, we received a grant from the Federal Government and we received it in September of 2020, not in 2021 like reports suggest. When the grant was announced we posted a story about receiving the grant.

The grant came from the Canada Periodical Fund.  You can read more about the grant here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/funding/periodical-fund.html

The assertion that this money was paid to us in order to provide favourable coverage of a specific political party is simply false.  We would never sign any agreement that restricts our news coverage.

We applied and accepted the grant like many other small businesses in Fort St. John because COVID-19 caused a significant drop in our
advertising revenue.  Advertising revenue is our main source of income.

By accepting this grant, all of our staff kept their jobs and were able to use the money to expand our news coverage and hire an extra reporter.

If there are any other questions, feel free to email me directly at adam@moosefm.ca

Sincerely,

Adam Reaburn
President
