TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. – Kinuseo Road is clear in both directions at Monkman Provincial Park, according to DriveBC.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced the road was open as of Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m.
The announcement follows a trend of loosening restrictions as wildfire activity slows and more precipitation has fallen in the region over the last two weeks.
Area Restrictions for the fires near Tentfire Creek, Ridgeview Creek and Bear Hole Lake are no longer in effect as of noon on August 31st.
Kinuseo Falls Road, also known as Murray Forest Service Road, about 60 kilometres south of Tumbler Ridge and Monkman Provincial Park were both closed due to wildfires in the area on July 2nd.
According to BC Parks, Monkman Provincial Park is still closed until further notice.
“Park visitors can still visit other provincial parks that remain unaffected. Visit the BC Parks website to explore alternative parks to visit, or the Discover Camping website to check for available camping with reservations,” reads a notice on the BC Parks website.
The fire at the north end of Monkman Provincial Park burned around 258 hectares and is currently being held, according to the BC Wildfire Dashboard.
