VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 36 cases Wednesday, moving the active case count to 230.

There are four people in hospital, all of whom are in critical care.

No deaths were recorded Wednesday, keeping the regional total at 159.

Out of 8,199 cases recorded since last March, 7,808 have recovered.

There were 1,120 vaccine doses given since Tuesday, bringing the total number of doses given to 314,624. Of those, 143,475 are second doses.

British Columbia added 553 new cases Wednesday, pushing the active case count to 5,580.

There are 107 people in hospital, 53 of whom are in critical care.

There was one COVID-19 death recorded Wednesday, moving the provincial total to 1,782.

Out of 157,567 cases recorded, 150,102 have recovered.

B.C. recorded 17,183 vaccine doses since Tuesday, setting the total dose count at 7,265,222. Of those, 3,421,777 are second doses.

The BC CDC updated the geographic distribution of cases by local health area map on Wednesday.

For the week of August 8th to 14th, Peace River North recorded 24 cases, Peace River South recorded 21, and Fort Nelson had one case. The highest concentration of cases in the province was in the Central Okanagan with 922 cases in the same time period.
