VICTORIA, B.C. – The Northern Health Region added 74 new cases over the weekend, including 15 from Sunday to Monday. The active case count sits at 197.

There are two people in hospital, both are in critical care.

There were no deaths over the weekend, keeping the regional total at 159.

Out of 8,128 cases recorded since last March, 7,770 have recovered.

With 1,882 vaccine doses recorded since the last report, 313,265 total doses have been given in the region. 142,456 of those are second doses.

The province added 1,434 cases over the weekend. From Friday to Saturday there were 532 cases, 441 from Saturday to Sunday, and 461 cases from Sunday to Monday. B.C.’s active case count sits at 5,090.

There are 104 people in hospital, 47 of whom are in critical care.

There was one COVID-19 death over the weekend, bringing the provincial total to 1,780.

Out of 156,513 cases, 149,553 have since recovered.

There were 66,941 vaccine doses given since the last report, bringing the total number of doses given to 7,230,861. Of those, 3,394,974 are second doses.

A poll from Insights West shows 79 per cent of respondents would support some sort of vaccine passport in B.C.

More than four out of five respondents say double vaccination should be a requirement for those flying within Canada and within the province, 79 per cent say it should be a requirement for fans at sports events, and 77 per cent say those going to university should be fully vaccinated.

Also, the poll shows 87 per cent of respondents would support a vaccine mandate for hospital and medical workers.
