UPDATE as of 7:30pm – Power has been restored to the majority of customers Approximately 700 customers are still without power in the area.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Over 4,500 customers are without power in Fort St. John and around the North Peace.
B.C. Hydro is reporting several power outages, with the two largest outages affecting a large part of Fort St. John. As of 4:50 p.m., Hydro says crews have been assigned to repair the two largest outages.
There is no estimate on when power will be restored.
The cause of the outages is listed as trees being down on power lines. On Sunday afternoon wind speeds peaked at over 70 km/h.
