PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The BC Wildfire Service issued an Area Restriction Order to protect the public near the Ridgeview Creek wildfire.

The order takes effect at noon on August 13th, 2021, and it will remain in place until September 30th or until it is rescinded.

Under this order and Section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without the prior written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, unless the person enters the area only in the course of:

Violation tickets for $1,150 could be issued to those who fail to comply with the order.

The order applies to crown land on the following map:

 

According to a release, the size of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where fire suppression activities are ongoing.

There are 62 active wildfires in the Prince George Fire Centre as of Friday at 10:30 a.m.
