Rotary Mega Lottery raises $64,000 for local community clubs

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Rotary Club of Fort St. John delivered the proceeds of the 2020 Mega Lottery —worth nearly $64,000— to 22 charities and community clubs in Fort St. John, Chetwynd and Dawson Creek.

According to a release, these funds will support a range of clubs and activities like dance, theatre, gymnastics, hockey, playground equipment, seniors housing, workshops and more.

The breakdown of proceeds is as follows:

Through its lottery ticket sales, the Rotary Club of Fort St. John raised an additional $10,222.20 which was split equally between the Fort St. John Public Library, North Peace Seniors Housing Society, and the Salvation Army. Each organization receives $3,407.40.

Three lucky cash prize winners were also announced. Jennifer Katsiris of Fort St. John won the grand prize worth $25,000, Sherry Cantlon of Fort St. John won the second prize worth $10,000, and Deb Wallace of Fort St. John won the $5,000 third prize.

The 50/50 draw winner was Joe Judge of Dawson Creek who won $22,380, and Dawson Creek’s Victor Hubley took the $5,000 early bird draw.

According to a release, the Rotary Mega Lottery has raised over $2.5 million for Peace Region clubs since 2003.

Tickets go on sale in October for the 2021 Mega Lottery.
