FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fort St. John City Council has approved the issuance of the Development Variance Permit (DVP) for the Salvation Army Supportive Housing.

This DVP will change the Zoning Bylaw No.2470, 2019, to reduce the front parcel line setback from 1.2 metres to 0 metres to allow the use of a terrace.

With this change, the supportive housing project from BC Housing and the Salvation Army can begin getting permits processed with the City.

According to the BC Housing website, construction is anticipated to start next month, August and residents could be moving in by early 2022.

The supportive housing would provide 42 new homes with supports for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. These homes would be for residents over the age of 19 who need additional support services to maintain housing.
