FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro has released the construction update for the Site C Project.

The construction bulletin for July 24th to August 6th will see work done to the north and south bank by the dam, the shoreline protection berm in Hudson’s Hope, and Highway 29 realignments.

BC Hydro is also reminding residents that the section of the Peace River near the Site C dam is permanently closed. Being near or in the water near the construction area presents a serious safety risk to river users.

For the dam sites on the north and south bank, excavation of the tunnel, drilling and grouting, and underground work on the north and south drainage are underway.

Night-time traffic delays on Old Fort Road will take place on July 26th and August 3rd, while penstock deliveries take place.

The construction of the 2.6-kilometre berm in Hudson’s Hope is still underway along the east and west ends of the site. This includes vegetation clearing and stripping materials from the shoreline.

Water quality monitoring has also been installed in the Peace River, and boaters are asked to obey signage and stay clear of the work area for safety reasons.

Work is still being done along Highway 29; information on schedules, maps, other construction updates, and timelines can be found on Hydro’s website.
