FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Peace Villa is temporarily suspending new admission into the long-term care facility due to staffing challenges.
The temporary measure began on July 16th and is aimed at reducing the number of residents that are currently in care, making sure that those residents are getting provision of safe, quality care.
Currently, Peace Villa is dealing with staffing challenges much like other health care services in the region.
Peace Villa’s current residents and respite clients will still remain in care and only new admissions will be affected by the suspension.
According to a post made by Save Our Northern Seniors (SONS), a number of initiatives are being planned to allow the existing nursing staff to focus on providing direct care to residents, including increasing the number of non-nursing positions like support workers, food service workers, and clerical supports.
Northern Health Community Care Facilities Licensing has been notified of the suspension and communication with residents and their families will be ongoing.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to the Residential Care Manager’s Office at 250-261-7452.
