FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Mathews Park upgrades are now complete.

The project —Phase 2 of the 92A Street Project— carried over from last year as crews could not complete it before the end of the season.

City crews upgraded the existing gravel trail to a paved, lit trail. The City says this will greatly expand the usability of the outdoor skating loop in the winter.

This project included upgrades to the road between 87th and 89 Avenues, trail construction with lighting, and the extension of the sewer upgrades to the Alaska Highway.

These upgrades brought the 92A Street area closer to the Transportation Master Plan, ensuring vibrant neighbourhoods and efficiently serving the growing community over the next 20 years.

A post from the City asks residents to keep off the newly seeded areas beside the trail to give the grass a chance to grow in.
