UPDATE: Kevin Johnston appeared in court on December 22nd to set a court date to fix dates for trial.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – Kevin J. Johnston received a trial date Wednesday for an assault case in Dawson Creek.

Johnston appeared virtually in Dawson Creek court on July 14th and will face a trial by judge on December 22nd.

Johnston was arrested and charged with assault after punching the Dawson Creek No Frills manager on March 25th.

The accused was in the city to speak at a Freedom Rally.

Earlier this week, the Calgary mayoral candidate pleaded guilty to a pair of criminal charges on the first day of trial.

Johnston faced charges after threatening an Alberta Health Services employee and causing a disturbance at the Core shopping centre in Calgary.

He was released Monday after serving around 10 weeks in jail.
