DAWSON CREEK, B.C. – The Dawson Creek RCMP has released its third round of property crime prevention tips.

Every summer, RCMP sees increased thefts relating to recreational vehicles and other items used frequently during the summer months.

An easy fix? Don’t leave anything in driveways, carports, backyards, or out at summer properties that can be easily taken. These items can be prime targets for thieves.

Items like boats, trailers, personal water crafts, dirt bikes, motorbikes, scooters, and ATVs should be stored and secured properly.

A lot of summer seasonal recreation items are valuable, portable, and popular with thieves.

RCMP suggest the following tips to help protect your property:

Regarding suspicious activity, RCMP says there is sometimes a misconception of when to report suspicious activity to police. Dawson Creek RCMP recommends reporting all suspicious activity immediately. RCMP members would rather suspicious activity be reported and be unfounded than not reported at all.
