FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the B.C. Peace.

The forecast says the region could see a severe thunderstorm late Saturday afternoon or early in the evening.

The storm could produce strong winds, hail and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops.
