FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Five hospital employees have been awarded grants from the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.

The Foundation awards annual grants to employees looking to further their education.

The Educational Grant was started back in 1996, around the same time the Foundation was started, with the first round of grants handed out in 1997.

Every year, $10,000 is put aside to go towards the Educational Grant, with a maximum of $2,500 being awarded to each recipient.

This year, five recipients were chosen to receive the grants, including Lorna and Herbet Barateta, who were each awarded $2,000 to further their education.

Kelly Amboe with the FSJHF says, “the Education Fund is intended to reimburse employees of the Hospital and Peace Villa Facility for a portion of the cost of furthering their education in areas other than the compulsory requirements set by the Hospital for their respective positions.”

More information on the FSJ Hospital Foundation can be found on its website.
